Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said he had reports of several trees down scattered around the county after the storm system that blew through the area Monday night into Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, the Atmore area received between 1.5-1.99 inches of rainfall Jan. 8-9.

Additionally, high winds and lightning were a constant feature of the storm. Multiple watches and warnings were issued. Atmore Advance Facebook followers reported some damage and one resident was still waiting for power to be restored at a residence in Canoe as of press time Tuesday.

Adams said some of the downed trees may have affected power lines.

“I only had reports of two damaged structures,” Adams said. “One was the Barnett Crossroads (Volunteer Fire Department) building and the other was close by. Both had large bay doors damaged.”
