4 ECHS student athletes sign on National Signing Day

Four Escambia County High School student-athletes signed to play sports at the next level today during a National Signing Day ceremony in the school auditorium.

Stephen Williams signed with Coastal Alabama Community College South; Exavion Bradley signed with the University of West Alabama; Elijah Thomas signed with Miles College; and Lorenzo Arnold signed with East Mississippi Community College.

“What a time to be a Blue Devil,” ECHS head football coach Vincent Harris said. “Over the last two years, we’ve had eight athletes sign.

“The class of 2024 is a special group for me,” he added. “I enjoyed the process of watching you go from boys to men.”

Harris encouraged those other football and basketball athletes in the audience to use signing day as motivation.

Head basketball coach Layton Knight introduced Williams.

“Stephen’s the only player in Escambia County High School history that will play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game on March 9,” Knight said.

ECHS defensive coordinator Raymond Robinson introduced Bradley.

“These guys hold a special place in my heart,” Robinson said.

Assistant coach Devon Robinson said when he came in, he noticed that the guys were all eager and ready to learn.

Robinson introduced Thomas.

“He was a great all around kid,” Robinson said.

Offensive coordinator Maurice Bradley said he believes Arnold’s talents will take him to the NFL one day,.

“I just want to thank my coaches and teammates,” Arnold said. “They helped push me to become a leader.”
