The Atmore Police Department needs the public’s help to identify a suspect in reference to several incidents, which began on Feb. 17, according to officials.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that the incidents began at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Saturday.

“The suspect was responsible for the theft of two vehicles both resulting in high-speed pursuits on Highway 31,” McMann said. “Both vehicles were recovered. The suspect fled from the second vehicle after failing to navigate a turn and crashed on James Road. He then fled into a heavily wooded area in the Nokomis area.”

McMann said the suspect attempted the theft of a four-wheeler, a bicycle and a golf cart as he was attempting to flee the area.

“The suspect may have had assistance in evading capture before additional resources were able to arrive on the scene,” he said.
