Losing is hard, but losing seven in a row is even worse. That is something the Escambia Academy Cougars know as they are still in search of their first elusive victory of the season.
The Cougars (0-7, 0-3) leave Canoe Friday to faceoff against the Clarke Prep Gators.
The battle against the Gators will not be any easier for the Cougars who have had trouble putting up points and keeping them off the board.
Head coach Heath Gibson said his team is working this week to prepare for the Gators’ strong defense.
The Gators bring size and power on both sides of the ball, according to Gibson.
Gibson said it will be a size mismatch for the Cougars, and added they might not have seen opponents this big all season.
One factor hurting the Cougars right now are some key injuries.
Gibson said Cedo Coon and Jarrett Hadley are coming off of injuries from the Marengo game and could be healthy enough to take the field Friday.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
