NWE softball team wins district

An undefeated record of 3-0 was enough to earn the 11-12-year-old Northwest Escambia All-Star softball team a district championship in Destin.
The NWE All-Stars competed in the district tournament against teams from Niceville, Destin, Defuniak Springs and Shalimar.
In their first game, NWE defeated Niceville 7-0 in six innings to put them straight into the winner’s bracket.
Jerry Mason, manager of the team, said the team getting into the winner’s bracket helped set the tone for the story.
Northwest Escambia’s second game matched them up with a softball team from Shalimar.
The team from NWE made quick work of their oppenents crushing Shalimar 12-1.
Mallory Ryan started the game for NWE and threw a no-hitter through four innings.
The offensive output was pushed with Reagan Bell, Madison Arrington, Darby Randolph and Mallory Ryan all scoring two runs each.
Danielle Steadham, Cheyenne Schoonover, Courtney Peebles and Kyndall Hall all scored one run in the win.
Northwest Escambia faced a familiar foe in the championship game.
In the game for the Florida District 1 title, NWE’s All-Stars faced off against Niceville coming away with a 4-1 victory.
Ryan led the way for NWE picking up the win and sending seven Niceville players down on strikes.
Offensively, Bell, Steadham, Schoonover and Hall all scored to help get NWE the district championship.
