Chiefs break even in Pre-season Classic

The Northview Lady Chiefs volleyball team hosted its Pre-Season Classic Thursday against Escambia County (Fla.) High School and Walton High School.
Lady Chiefs head coach Betty Heaton said her team played well in the preseason game.
In their first game, the Lady Chiefs took on the Walton Lady Braves and defeated them two games to one to win the match.
The Lady Chiefs won Game one 25-17 and Game three 15-11, but lost Game two 24-26.
Against the Lady Braves, Shawna Montgomery had 18 digs, seven blocks, six kills, three aces and two assists. Ashley Digmon and Caitlin Hall led the team in aces with four apiece.
In their second match, against the Escambia County Lady Gators, the Lady Chiefs won Game one, but fell in the final two games to lose that match.
In Game one, the Lady Chiefs won 25-23, lost Game two 19-25 and lost Game three 15-17.
Leaders in the match against Escambia County were Angela Rodriguez with eight digs, four aces and one kill, and Caitlin Hall with 17 assists, four aces, two blocks and one kill.
Heaton said her team’s performance in the second match was much like the first just with more miscues.
As the Lady Chiefs pepare for their first game there are certain things that need to be corrected, according to Heaton.
Heaton said she found good things and bad things in the Pre-season Classic.
