Escambia County High School finally gets the advantage of their hometown crowd this week as they prepare to face the Faith Academy Rams in their 2009 home opener at Herbert Barnes Stadium.
The Blue Devils (0-2, 0-1) are looking to notch their first win of the season after dropping two heartbreakers to highly-ranked opponents, the T.R. Miller Tigers and the Vigor Wolves.
Blue Devils head coach Kyle Davis said this week’s game against the Rams (1-1, 0-1) is a good match up for his team.
In preparation for the game, the Blue Devils have been studying their opponents and working on improving mistakes.
Davis said studying the Rams’ offense is key because of the type of plays they run.
The offense worked well last week moving the ball against their opponents, but turnovers and mistakes killed their chances of a win.
Davis said bouncing back from those mistakes mixed with a little bit of luck could turn the advantage towards his team.
Defensively, the Blue Devils continue to work on their intensity and aggressiveness.
Davis said the defense is getting better everyday, and every player is working to better himself at his position.
The Blue Devils and Rams kick off at 7 p.m. at Herbert Barnes Stadium.
