A criminal investigation is underway surrounding a house fire in McCullough Saturday. The blaze was reported around 3 a.m. Saturday morning at the home of Ken Brewton at 10993 Jack Springs Rd.
State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk said the fire was the result of alleged arson activity and leads in the case are being followed.
McCullough Volunteer Fire Chief Eddie Kirby said the blaze didn’t appear to be a typical house fire.
Kirby said he saw evidence at the scene that led him to believe the house was intentionally burned.
Although Paulk would not name any suspects in the case, he did say the case would be wrapped up as quickly as possible.
Brewton, owner of the home, could not be reached for comment. No member of the family was at home when the blaze broke out according to officials.
Kirby said his seven-man crew worked the scene until the flames were extinguished. Paulk and other officials are continuing their investigation.
