Escambia Academy looks to bounce back this week against the Pickens Academy Pirates after falling to the Southern Academy Cougars 23-6 in a game where everything went right for Southern and very few things went right for the Cougars of Canoe.
The Cougars (2-2, 0-1) host the Pirates in a key region game that could help set the tone for how Class 2A Region 2 shapes up over the next few weeks.
EA head coach Heath Gibson said overcoming last week’s loss is a must for Friday’s match up.
The Pirates will be bringing a spread offense to town, which the Cougars will have to be prepared for in order to stop.
Gibson said Pickens likes to change things up throughout the game.
Offensively, the Cougars will have to eliminate mistakes in order to score points.
Gibson said finishing out assignments and routes is a must.
The Cougars and Pirates kick off at 7 p.m. at Bachelor Field.
