In a recessed economy, officials have long said enrollment in technical and traditional college classes will increase. That statement has been proven true with recent figures released by officials at Jefferson Davis Community College.
David Jones, Dean of Student Affairs at JDCC, said enrollment for the spring semester has shown a significant increase.
JDCC President Susan McBride said those numbers are more than a boost at the college.
Jones said technical courses at the institution filled quickly during the registration period.
McBride said technical professions could be experiencing an increase in the near future.
Jones said the increase in student enrollment at the college translates to about 1,300 students at the school’s campuses.
McBride said the higher number of students on campus is exciting for activities and atmosphere at the campuses in Atmore and Brewton.
Jefferson Davis Community College has campuses in Atmore on U.S. 21 and in Brewton on Alco Drive.
