Northview opened district play Tuesday afternoon with a home game against the Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors in Bratt, Fla.
The Chiefs (4-1, 1-0) picked up the win 13-1 behind the pitching of senior Brad Lowery.
Lowery pitched a five inning no-hitter. He gave up one run on no hits and two walks.
Other than picking up the victory, the bright spot of Lowery’s performance were the 12 batters he struck out.
Chiefs Head Coach Sid Wheatley said Lowery did a good job of getting the job done in a big win.
With their fourth consecutive win, the Chiefs are now averaging 10 runs per game.
Wheatley said if his team is able to continue that type of production then they could win any game they want.
In their win against PCA, the Chiefs picked up their 13 runs on nine hits.
Northview started the game strong as they were able to get three men across homeplate in the first inning.
With their offense thriving from the beginning, Northview continued to pour the runs on as they again scored three more runs in the second inning.
The Chiefs extended their lead to nine in the third inning as they used their bats to cause chaos for the Warriors’ defense scoring four more players.
The bottom of the fourth was much like the first three for the Chiefs as they again scored with three more players scooting around the bases to pull ahead 13-0.
With a 12-run lead at the end of the top of the fifth, the Chiefs were able to send the Warriors home with a loss by the 10-run rule.
Leading hitters for the Chiefs were Austin Arrington going 2-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI; Dabney Langhorne hitting 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI; Dakota Stuckey hitting 2-for-2 with one run scored and two RBI; Austin Reid going 1-for-1 with a run scored and Tyler Brooks going 1-for-1 with an RBI.
