HUXFORD – Hazel L. Gorum was born on May 22, 1933 and died March 9, 2010 unexpectedly from complications of pneumonia at Atmore Community Hospital.
She was 76 years old. She was married to William A. Gorum, Sr. for 59-plus years. She grew up in Pleasant Grove and attended high school in Atmore. She resided in Huxford.
She loved her family, her neighbors and her church. Her hobbies were working in her yard, reading, watching baseball, football and westerns.
She retired from Vanity Fair Mills after working 30-plus years. She has one surviving sister, Nettie Bell.
Her mother, father, two brothers and two sisters, preceded her in death.
She had numerous nieces and nephews. She and William Gorum had six children, William Andrew Gorum Jr. (Wanda), Judy (Billy) Hines, Cindy (Brent) Weldon, David (Tammy) Gorum and Danny (Linda) Forum. She has 12 grandchildren: Josh (Dana) Gorum, Lindsey Gorum, Megan Gorum, Will Hines, Logan Gorum, B.J. Weldon and Brett Gorum. Their great grandchildren are Jessie Risher, Ansley Risher, Chase Gorum, Conner Gorum, Katelyn Gorum and Nolan Gorum. The pallbearers will be Josh Gorum, Daniel Gorum, Aaron Gorum, Ryan Gorum, Will Hines, Logan Gorum, B.J. Weldon and Brett Gorum.
The funeral will be held at Huzford Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home or Gideons International in memory of Hazel Gorum.
