Pat Eddins is a walking miracle - thanks to advances in medicine and treatments used in the fight against cancer. That miracle is her reason to be involved in the annual Relay for Life event planned today to benefit The American Cancer Society.
Diagnosed with myeloma in November 1991, Eddins has beaten the odds and has been a survivor of the disease for many years longer than expected.
Eddins said one of the reasons she believes she is a survivor is due to the work done by the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.
Eddins said treatment she and countless other cancer victims receive at cancer centers is nothing less than a “miracle.”
Eddins said the benefits of money raised through events like Relay for Life do more than fund research.
Eddins said a variety of loan closets including items such as prosthesis equipment, wigs, hats and other items are made available regularly to cancer patients.
