hopeful for first win

Ball control has been an important topic on the minds of the Escambia County High School Blue Devils. Following Friday night's performance of seven turnovers, Blue Devils' head coach Frankie Bell talked of going back to the basics.
The Blue Devils' offense sputtered all night. They gave up many opportunities that could have changed the outcome of the game. The defense played well throughout the first half, but fatigue soon took control. In the second half, the defense gave up some big plays and missed some key tackles.
It was obvious that the Blue Devils were lacking confidence in the second half. After failing to score on their first possession and giving up a touchdown and safety to the St. Paul Saints, the Blue Devils' offense shut down. The Saints were able to take advantage of several Devils' miscues to build an overwhelming lead.
The Blue Devils are hoping to regain some confidence in their offense. " We had so many opportunities throughout the game Friday night, " stated Bell. " We dropped so many passes that could have made a huge difference. Our mistakes killed us and we need to work on protecting the ball."
The Blue Devils don't want to dwell on the past, but they want to learn from their mistakes. This Friday, the Blue Devils will travel to Bay Minette to face a tough Baldwin County High School Tigers team. This game is a renewal of an old rivalry between the two teams. The Tigers are an opportunistic team that will take advantage of key mistakes. The Blue Devils cannot afford to make as many mistakes as they did last week.
