Antonio Devon Richardson

Antonio Devon Richardson was born to Mr. Willie J. and Mary Williams on Nov. 7, 1982, in Atmore.

Richardson passed away on April 16, 2018. A funeral service will be held today, Wed., April 25, 2018.

He was introduced to Christianity at an early age, where he was baptized at the Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. N.L. Robinson.

Tony was a 2002 graduate from Escambia County High School. He was gainfully employed with Swift Lumber Co. in Atmore. Tony later found an interest with the Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church in Freemanville under the leadership of Pastor Edgar Lee McCarthy, where he remained until his transition.

Antonio Devon Richardson transitioned from time to eternity on April 16, 2018. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty L. Williams and Ozell Hines; and a son, Carmeron Antonio Richardson.

Those who will forever cherish his memories are a wife, Bridgett Boggan Richardson of 9.5 years of Atmore; three children, Garbriel Santiago Boggan, Tonia Leanne Richardson and Khole Simone Richardson; parents, Mr. Willie J. and Mary Williams of Brewton; siblings, a devoted sister, Latonia (Rev. Gordon) Brooks of Atmore; brothers, Don (Latina) Richardson Jr. of Atmore, Toris (Erica) Richardson and Dylan Sharp; special uncle, Deacon Eddie Ray (Shellie) Sharp Sr.; six nephews; three nieces; one great-niece; and a host of cousins, friends other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were family and friends.

Inhumation service was held at Pierce, Montgomery-Rabb Cemetery in Freemanville.

Dinner and fellowship was held at Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church’s fellowship hall.

Care and trust was entrusted to Christian Memorial Funeral Home LLC.

Dorothy “Dot” Barber

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Barber, 89, passed away on Mon., April 16, 2018, in Mobile.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Lottie. She was a member of the Lottie Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Alex and Ettie Genell Drew; two sisters, Estelle Dean and Jessie James Criswell; and one brother, Onas Drew.

She is survived by her three sons, Alex Barber of Lottie, Gregory L. Barber of Atmore and Rocky S. Barber of Bay Minette; one brother, Wilburn Cleo (Mildred) Drew of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Essie Josey of Atmore and Voncile Drew (Garth) Branch of Atmore; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on April 19, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial followed at the Lottie New Home Cemetery.

Visitation was held on April 18, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ricky Josey, Darrell Ledkins, Robert Hughes, Steve Whittington, Rodney Boyington and Garrett Chance.

Felix Ray Holland Jr.

Felix Ray Holland Jr., 51, of Brewton, passed away on April 14, 2018.

He was a devoted husband of 32 years to his wife, Tammy, a dedicated father, a loving father in law, an adoring Poppy to his grandkids and a loyal friend. He loved his friends, family and country.

He served our country as a member of the National Guard. Ray never met a stranger and was loved and respected by everyone who met him. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Calf-Ford Hunting Club. He also enjoyed working alongside his brother in law and friend, Art.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Paul Peterson; grandfather, Walter Esslie Smith; grandparents, Nolan and Beverly Holland; uncles, Kenneth Smith and George Palmer; biological father, Felix Ray Holland Sr.; brother in law, Shane Williams; and father in law, Morgan Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Tammy Holland of Brewton; three sons, Dustin Ray (Laura Leigh) Holland of Birmingham, Seth Ryan (Mercedes) Holland of Brewton and Gus Sharpe of Birmingham; mother, Betty Luverne Peterson of Byrneville, Fla.; grandmother, Luverne Smith Diamond of Flomaton; one brother, Michael Paul (Jessica Lynn) Peterson of Westville, Fla.; one half brother, Jody (Brenda Sue) Johnson of Summertown, Ga.; one sister, Tammy Standifer of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters in law, Debrah (Art) Dales, Tracy (Jason) Acree and Holly Williams; one brother in law, Ashley Collins; seven grandchildren, Kailyn, Addyson, Hunter, Ashlynn, Bella Claire, Aniston and Axel; special friends, Jason, Kelly and Brooks Madden of Brewton; lots of nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Funeral services were held on April 20, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Bondurant and Jeff Salter officiating.

Burial followed at the Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation was held on April 19, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Josh Danley, Bug Fisher, Timothy Dales, James Bell, Kevin Bell, Hunter Williams, Coltin Williams, Jeff Salter and Chris Fowler.

Honorary pallbearers were Jayden Dales and Kendall Helton.

Lilla Parmer Robinson

Mrs. Lilla Parmer Robinson, 92, passed away on Fri., April 20, 2018, in Atmore.

She was a native of Huxford, former resident of Savannah, Ga. (where she spent most of her life) and has resided in Atmore for the past 20 years. She was a wonderful mom, sister, loving, full of kindness and always had a smile for people. She was of the Baptist Faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Robinson; parents; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Robinson of Dunwoody, Ga.; and sister, Annette Corley of Saraland.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wed., April 25, 2018, from Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association.

Mary E. Mattson

Mary E. Mattson, 86, of Atmore, passed away on Wed., April 18, 2018, in Atmore.

She was a homemaker, born in Monroe County on July 18, 1931, to the late Robert and Cora Faircloth Smith. She was a member of the Church of the Living God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Mattson and eight siblings.
She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Carolyn) Cook of Walnut Hill, Fla.; Robert (Jean) Cook of Chicago, Ill. and Paul (Nealia) Cook of Austin, Ariz.; two daughters, Barbara Karcz of Chicago and Beverly Cook of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one sister, Rosie Jean Williams of Elberta; brother in law, Jim Lynche of Foley; special caregiver, Shelby Carraway of Elberta; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Debbie and the Southern Care Hospice Team and the staff at Atmore Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. this Fri., April 27, 2018, from the Church of the Living God in Atmore, with Bro. Earl Harrison officiating.
Interment will follow at Whitmire Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

Mary E. Watts

Mrs. Mary E. Watts, 80, passed away on Fri., April 20, 2018, in Atmore.

She was a native of Massachusetts and resided in Byrneville, Fla. for most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and was of the Catholic Faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Watts.

Survivors include her three sons, Donald Beals of Flomaton, Mike Beals of Byrneville, Fla. and James “Jimmy” Castonguay of Baker, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation was held April 22, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Russell Edward Welch

Russell Edward Welch, 92, of McDavid, Fla., went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2018.

He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Riviera Beach, Fla. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bratt. His family moved to McDavid while he was in high school, he graduated from Tate High School and later went to work for St. Regis Paper Co., where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1985.

Ed and his wife, Teresa, loved to travel; they traveled extensively in the states and abroad, vacationing in many countries, even to his ancestor’s homeland of Ireland. He loved to work in the garden and grew most of the vegetables they ate; and he also loved to fish anytime he had a chance.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Teresa Beatrice Welch; his father and mother, Claude and Farabelle Welch; two sisters, Olivia Magness and Eunice Browning; and two brothers, Fred and Tommy Welch.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Brook; and husband, Joe of McDavid, Fla.; one son, Gregory Welch; and wife, Gwen of Cantonment, Fla.; one grandson, Matthew Brook and wife, Connie; one granddaughter, Jessica Welch of Monroe, La.; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kylie, Gracen Brook and River Welch; one sister, Ruth McNeil of Crestview; one sister in law, Carolyn (Wayne) Milligan of Cantonment; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on April 24, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Delbert Redditt officiating.

Burial followed at the Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation was held April 23, 2018, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Bill Welch, Gary Welch, Elton Gilmore, Eric Gilmore, William Chancery and Jimmy Malone.

The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support of family and friends, also church family, and the care he received from the many staff members of Emerald Coast Hospice.

 

Thomas Alton Conner Jr.

Thomas Alton Conner Jr. also known as Tommy, TC and Tom, passed away on March 17, 2018, at the age of 71. He was a resident of Stockton, Calif. and a former resident of Flomaton and Atmore.

Tommy was a 1965 graduate of Escambia County High School and a 1972 graduate of the University of West Florida.

He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Alton Conner Sr.; his mother, Evelyn Booker; and niece, Mary Newberry.

He is survived by his sister, Maxine Higdon (Archie) of Thomasville; half sister, Barbara Hughes (Ronnie) of Stockton; two nieces; one nephew; one great-niece; three great-nephews; close friends, Joseph Tripp, Janell Phillips, Albert and Nancy Kennington; the Lodge family; and many other relatives and friends.

Internment was at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenox.

A memorial will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore, on May 5, 2018 at 1 p.m.

 

Kenneth Wayne Johnson

Kenneth Wayne Johnson, 74, of Stockton, passed away on Sun., April 22, 2018, in Stockton.

He was a supervisor with the state docks for 26 years employed with Golden Stevedoring, Odyssey, Maritime Services and was a supervisor for the Tri-State Port Authority. He was a member and treasurer of West End Baptist Church, born on Jan. 14, 1944 in Century, Fla. to the late Bruce and Mary Loutisia Lambert Johnson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bruce Johnson Jr.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret G. Johnson; and one son, Randy (Pam) Johnson, all of Stockton; one daughter, Rhonda (James) English of Brewton; one sister, Linda Whatley of Atmore; grandchildren, Kevin (Rebecca) Johnson, Madison Johnson, Amber Loutisia English, Ryan (Sarah) Johnson and Kenneth English; and great grandchildren, Brooke Johnson and Macey Johnson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wed., April 25, 2018, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Chace officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Kevin Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Kenneth English, Allen Jay, Ken Brown and James English.
