Thursday was the deadline for Democrats to qualify for county elections.
Seventeen people qualified for six offices. Only one is unopposed on the ticket.
Four candidates qualified to run for the seat being vacated by Commissioner Weldon Vickrey. James E. (Jimmy) Dean, Ann Peacock Gordon, James (Junior) Hall and Don Whatley. Hall is the only candidate to publicly announce that he is running for the position.
Commissioner Aubrey Adams, District 2, also declined to run again. Henry Hooks, Danny Howard, Raymond Wiggins and Todd Williamson are running for that office.
Incumbent James E. (Jimmy) Dukes is opposed by Steve McGill and Tom Wolfe for the District 7 seat on the school board. Dukes has not yet announced his candidacy but is qualified.
School board member Larry Madden, District 3, is not running for re-election. Jack D. Crutchfield, Hailey P. Lanier and Fred S. Salter Jr. are vying for that seat.
Incumbent Danny Benjamin is the only person to qualify for school board District 2 seat.
Rachel Agerton and A.G. (Bo) Brantley qualified for the probate judge race. Judge Devon Wiggins is retiring at the end of this term.
The deadline for Republicans to qualify for the upcoming elections is April 7.
The primaries will be held June 6, with run-offs on June 27, if necessary.
The general election will be held Nov. 7.
