Atmore’s Cal Ripken American League concluded its season Saturday with a three-game schedule.

Saturday’s games featured the PCI Cubs taking on the PCI Angels; the State Farm White sox facing the PCI Rockies and the United Bank Warriors battling the Atmore VFW Rangers.

Angels 13

It took a mid-game comeback, but the PCI Cubs were able to escape their Saturday game with a 14-13 win over the PCI Angels at Tom Byrne Park.

The Angels led the match up early on, but the Cubs had a big fourth inning that propelled them to victory.

In the top of the first, the Angels jumped out to a 5-0 lead with Preston Respress (3-for-4, 3R), Chase Bell (3-for-4, 3R), Kameron Bowen (2-for-4, R), Dylan Purvis (3-for-4, 2R) and Bailey Williams (3-for-4, R) each touching home plate.

The Angels extended their lead to nine runs in the top of the second inning with Devon Morris (2-for-4, R), Respress, Bell and Purvis crossing the plate.

Trailing 9-0, the Cubs finally got on the board in the bottom of the second with Jason Davis (3-for-3, 2R), Noah Martin (2-for-3, R) and Daughtry McGhee (1-for-3, R) scoring to make the score 9-3 in favor of the Angels.

The Cubs added their fourth run in the bottom of the third inning with Ian McGhee (2-for-3, 2R) making it around the base path.

In the top of the third, the Angels added another run to their score with Cameron Wynn (2-for-3, R) crossing the plate, but the Cubs took the lead 12-10 with A.J. Lowery (1-for-3, R), Damon Rolin (2-for-3, R), Talan Daughtry (3-for-3, R), Koby Wooten (1-for-3, R), Caleb Davis (2-for-4, 2R), Jayce Sells (2-for-4, 2R) and Ian McGhee all scoring.

The Angels tied the game in the top of the fifth with Chasen Wynn (3-for-4, R) and Respress scoring, and then took the lead 13-12 in the top of the sixth with a run from Matthew Harris (4-for-4 R).

In the bottom of the sixth, the Cubs secured the victory with runs from Caleb Davis and Sells helping them get the 14-13 win.

White Sox 7

Rockies 5

The State Farm White Sox survived a close game against the PCI Rockies on Saturday winning 7-5 at Tom Byrne Park.

It took three runs in the fifth inning to come back against their opponent, but the White Sox took advantage and won the game.

The Rockies struck first on the scoreboard with Dawson Cox (3-for-3, 2R) crossing the plate to put his team on top 1-0.

In the bottom of the first, the White Sox answered with two runs from Tyler Renfroe (3-for-3, 2R) and Bryant Quimby (1-for-3, R) giving them the lead 2-1.

Following scoreless second and third innings, the Rockies took the lead back 5-2 with Cox, Billy Rolin (3-for-3, R), Tucker Spence (2-for-3, R) and Kaiden McGhee (1-for-3, R) touching the plate.

The White Sox cut the deficit to one run in the bottom of the fourth with Kyle Hostetler (2-for-3, R) and Frederick Rudolph (1-for-2, R) each scoring runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, the White Sox took the lead to win the game with Caleb White (2-for-2, R), Calvin Stotts (2-for-3, R) and Renfroe scoring the runs that put them ahead.

Rangers 9

Warriors 7

In their final match up, the Atmore VFW Rangers ended the season with a 9-7 victory over the United Bank Warriors at Tom Byrne Park.

The Warriors took the lead to start the game going ahead 4-0 with Saviour Kilpatrick (2-for-3, 2R), Josh Hadley (3-for-3, 2R), Jadon Torres (2-for-3, R) and Drew Shelly (1-for-3, R) scoring runs.

The Rangers could only score one run in their first at-bat with Sam Smith (2-for-3, 2R) touching home plate.

In the bottom of the second, the Rangers pulled within two runs as Shivam Bhakta (2-for-2, 2R) came around to score.

The Warriors extended their lead back to three runs in the top of the third with Kilpatrick scoring his second run of the game. But, the Rangers tied the game at five in the bottom of the inning with Smith, Tray Bradley (2-for-3, 2R) and David Lamb (1-for-2, R) each scoring.

The Rangers took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with Bhakta and Brian Brown (2-for-2, R) crossing the plate, while they were able to extend their lead in the bottom of the fifth with their final two runs as Chaston Helton (1-for-3, R) and Bradley each crossed home plate.

Trailing 9-5, the Warriors attempted to come back for the win, but could only get two runs with Hadley and Logan Chavers (2-for-3, R) touching the plate as the game ended 9-7.
