Cougars, Lady Cougars drop pair to Monroe

Both the Escambia Academy baseball and softball teams faced their rivals the Monroe Academy Volunteers on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Lady Cougars were defeated by Monroe in a 6-4 loss. Lori Bonds pitched for EA. Stacy Gibbs led the Cougars in runs scored with two. Elisabeth Hendrix and Shelby Moore each scored one run. Moore, Holly Harrison, Kayla Morgan, and Mallory Martin each had one RBI.
The Escambia Academy baseball team fared no better against the Vols as they were defeated 6-3. Buckie Dawson went four innings for the Cougars, allowing four runs with three strikeouts. Josh Morgan pitched two innings with two runs and two strikeouts. Jace Beasley led the team, going two for two with a walk and two RBI. Steven Shirley had one hit, one RBI, and one run scored. Morgan and Bradford Price each had one hit and scored one run.
The Lady Cougars are now 4-2 on the season. The Cougars are 1-1. Both teams will face Cottage Hill away at 3:30 on Monday afternoon.
