Lady Cougars fall in title game

The Escambia Academy Lady Cougar softball team traveled to Patrician Academy last weekend to compete in a two day tournament along with Tuscaloosa, Patrician, Marengo, and Kingwood Academies.
In the first game on Friday, EA defeated Tuscaloosa Academy 3-2. Meagan Jackson, Lori Bonds, and Jaime Drew each scored one run, and Bonds pitched the game.
On the same day EA faced Patrician Academy in a 3-1 loss. Jackson scored the team's only run. Lori Bonds pitched for three innings, while Stacy Gibbs went one.
The Lady Cougars began Saturday's play with a 7-2 victory over Marengo Academy. Bonds pitched the game, and Bonds, Drew, Mandi Norton, Gibbs, Elisabeth Hendrix, Ellen Corman, and Holly Harrison each scored one run.
Escambia defeated Kingwood Academy later Saturday to advance to the championship game. Bonds also pitched this game. Bonds, Drew, and Gibbs each scored one run each.
The Cougars were defeated in the championship game in their third game of the day, 1-0. by Patrician Academy. Bonds pitched for the Cougars.
The Lady Cougars have a 4-1 record after the Patrician tournament.
