Atmore Police Department investigators are still awaiting a report from the Alabama Department of Forensics in regards to a shooting on Aug. 12 that left two people dead and two others injured.
Atmore Police Chief Danny McKinley said all evidence collected so far leads him to believe that Scott Riley, a 23 year-old of Atmore, shot three people, leaving one dead, and then shot himself.
The results may take several weeks before coming back to Atmore, but McKinley said if there are any discrepancies the lab usually informs them immediately.
If the evidence from forensics matches that gathered at the scene which points to a homicide/suicide, the case will most likely be presented to a grand jury during the next court sessions.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 8 p.m. at 111 Martin Luther King Drive, left Latoria McCullam, a 22 year-old of Atmore, dead. Her mother, Linda George, a 39 year old, and her sister, Felicia Jones, a 20 year-old, were both wounded after each sustained a single gunshot wound.
Jones was flown from Atmore Community Hospital to Baptist Medical Center in Pensacola where she was treated for a single gunshot wound to the head. Both of the victims were listed in stable condition in the latest reports.
Authorities believe the incident began when Riley went to the home of George to see McCullam who had moved in with her mother during a separation from him. At some point Riley and McCullam started arguing, and he allegedly pulled out a .38 caliber semi-automatic pistol and shot McCullam, George and Jones before turning the gun on himself.
The 2 year-old daughter of McCullam and Riley was found at the scene of the shooting by Atmore police officers, but was not injured.
