Bonner staffer to visits Atmore today
A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making a stop in Atmore Wednesday, June 28.The representative will be available at Atmore City Hall between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
Tax help for elderly offered today
Escambia County RSVP will have volunteers available to provide free assistance to those who have not completed their tax returns, are filing extensions, received a rejection, or need to file taxes from 2003 and 2004.
Services will be provided Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Starting Wednesday, June 28, 2006 and going until Tuesday, August 15, 2006.
In the Commission Board Room of the Brewton Courthouse.
Assistance will be given by appointments only.

Voluntary watering schedule issued
Tom Wolfe, manager of the Atmore Utilities Board, issued a voluntary outdoor watering schedule last week in hopes of preventing a shortage should the dry weather continue.
The Utilities Board is requesting that residents water lawns or wash cars on an odd, even basis depending on their address. If a residents' address ends in an odd number, the board is asking that all outdoor watering be performed on odd days of the month.
For those whose address ends in an even number, it is requested that watering be done on even days of the month.
Northview offers summer reading
Any student wishing to get extra credit in an English class at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year, can stop by the guidance department or administrative department for a list of AR books by FCAT Reading level. The test will be taken upon the student's return to school.

New Home Church host gospel singing
"The Workmen Quartet" along with "Grateful Heart" will be in concert at the New Home Church near Monroeville at 7 p.m. on Friday.
There is no admission charge but a love offering will be taken.
New Home Church is located between Repton and Monroeville just north of U.S. Highway 84.

Plant and Seed swap August 12
A plant and seed swap event will be held Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Davisville Community Center. Call 327-4280 for more information.
Calvary Baptist host special speaker
Mike Davis, Pastor of Pine Forest Estates Baptist Church, will be preaching on the Revelation at Calvary Baptist Church on Jack Springs Road July 17 through July 21 at 7 p.m. each evening.
American Heart classes at Kelley's
Kelley's Ambulance Service will be offering the following American Heart classes for July.
The class is approximately six hours and cost $25.
The class is approximately four hours and cost $15.
We offer all American Heart classes including renewal courses. Classes are held in our large, comfortable classroom at our station located at 212 N. Main Street. You must register prior to the class.

Food Network to show Butt Burners
The Wild Bunch Butt Burners will appear in a special program filmed in Atmore and Mobile on the Food Network beginning July 1 at 8 p.m.

McRae Street United Methodist Church will host The Master's Men Quartet in concert at 6 p.m. on July 9.

Christian Care needs food items
Atmore Area Christian Care gave food to 60 people last week. They are short on the following food items: Self Rising flour, Self Rising meal, chicken and dumplings and Treet.
Ala. Independent Baptist meet July 18
The Alabama Independent Baptist Fellowship will meet at Calvary Baptist Church on Jack Springs Road Tuesday, July 18 at 9:30 a.m. until noon for fellowship and preaching.
Sponsors needed for Taste of the South
The third annual Taste of the South has been scheduled for Aug. 12, 2006 in Heritage Park.
The event is sponsored by the Leadership Atmore Class of 2004.
The Taste of the South is a great opportunity to bring together various vendors from Atmore and surrounding communities to enjoy the cultural cuisines that our great city and individual community members have to offer.
This event offers everyone the opportunity to taste great food, listen to great music, visit with neighbors, and enjoy a host of other activities.
All money raised will go back to the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce to assist them in promoting the city of Atmore.
For Taste of the South to be successful as in years past, sponsors are needed. Each sponsor will be recognized at the event.
