ATMORE – Mr. Jerry Redmond, formerly of Walnut Hill, Fla., and a resident of Atmore died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Turner Funeral Chapel will announce services.
Phyllis Newton
CENTURY, FLA. – Mrs. Phyllis Newton, age 89, of Century, Fla., died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Jay Hospital in Jay, Fla.
Charles "Charlie" Paul
STOCKTON – Mr. Charles "Charlie" Paul, 89, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006 in Stockton.
He was a native of White House Forks, a former resident of Santa Rosa County, Fla., and a resident of Stockton for the past ten years. He was retired from Santa Rosa Island Authority, a veteran of WWII, and preceded in death by his daughter, Earlene Paul.
Survivors include: three sons, James Earl Paul of Cantonment, Fla., Albert and Ella Paul of Pensacola, Fla., and Sherman and Judy Paul of Conway, Ark.; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial followed at Latham Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, July 30, 2006 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Brett Windham, Randy Paul, Adam Morris, Christopher Rodenberry, T.J. Hadley and Jerry Wilson.
Edgar E. McKinley, Jr
PERDIDO – Edgar E. McKinley, Jr., 60, of Perdido, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at his residence. He was a roofer, born in Monroe County on Dec. 3, 1945 to the late Edgar E. Sr and Ruby Crawford McKinley.
Survivors are: a long time companion, Mrs. Gladys Etheridge of Perdido; one son, William McKinley of Perdido; three brothers, J. W. McKinley and Lawrence McKinley both of Pensacola, Fla., Harvey McKinley of Perdido; one sister, Dorothy Hubbard of Bay Minette; and a special friend, Ruben Allen.
Services were held Sunday, July 30, 2006 at 4 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Perdido Baptist cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Harvey McKinley, Timmy McKinley, Dale McKinley, Neal McKinley, Jason Hubbard and Andrew Hubbard.
Family received friends, Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until service time. Johnson-Quimby was in charge of all arrangements.
Julia F. Butler Croddy
ELLISVILLE, MISS. – Julia F. Butler Croddy, 83, of Ellisville, Miss., died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Jones County Rest Home in Ellisville, Miss.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Clyde Bruley officiating.
After retiring, Croddy made her home in Laurel, Miss., where she became a member of Charity Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman, delighting in serving God and her family.
She was employed with Masland in Atmore. She was a member of Charity Freewill Baptist Church. Her family will miss her sorely, but have beautiful memories to keep forever.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James C. Butler, to whom she was married for 34 years and her second husband, Emerson W. Croddy, married 11 years; one daughter, Phyllis G. Aidt; son-in-law, Gregory T. Welch.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Ruth Butler of Pensacola, Fla., Fred O. Butler and Jill Butler of Ellisville, Miss; daughters, Betty G. Cline and husband Lee of Laurel, Miss., Donna K. Welch and husband Greg of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Erma Fookes of Baltimore, Md; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home of Ellisville, Miss., and Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of all arrangements.
