The search for an Atmore man who had gone on a camping and fishing excursion on the Tensaw River was met with success early Tuesday morning as officials with the North Baldwin Search and Rescue teams found their man.
Shelby Ray Summers was reported missing to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office around noon on Monday by family members. Within an hour and a half the Alabama Marine Police, NBSR and the Alabama Game and Fish Agency were searching the area.
It wasn't until the search began its second day on Tuesday morning that Summers was found near Dominique Creek, a tributary of Bottle Creek.
Alabama Marine Police Officer Richard Miller was involved with the search and rescue operation from the beginning.
Within a short time, Summers' vehicle was found by the sheriff's office at Cliff's Landing on the Tensaw River. After that, the search moved to the river as the marine police and the agents with the game and fish agency took to their boats.
Those involved with the search met back at Cliff's Landing on Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. and began their search again. This time they found what they were looking for.
Summers had allegedly become landlocked inside the delta.
Summers was found uninjured, and the officer said he was in good spirits.
