Arthur Rolin
ATMORE – Mr. Arthur Rolin, 60, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Rolin was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore, a hard-working and loving family man, an employee of Baldwin Sod and a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include, his wife, Linda Diane Rolin of Atmore; two sons, Douglas MacArthur and Becky Rolin of Atmore and Brian A Pierce of Byrneville, Fla.; his daughter, Selina Lynn Gibson of Brewton; eight grandchildren; seven brothers, Wilbert and Joyce Rolin, Charles and Betty Rolin, David and Dorothy Rolin, Clarence and Dianne Rolin, Norman and Ester Rolin, Ray and Norma Jean Rolin and Raymond and Mary Rolin, all of Atmore; four sisters, Geneva and Roy Shivers of Flomaton, Mable and Sherrell Lambert, Joyce and Walter Myrick and Debra Strickland, all of Atmore; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Colbert of Atmore and Jimmy Dean Colbert of Loxley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006 at the Gospel Light Church with the Rev. Clarence Rolin officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Garden Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Barbara Lee Wasdin
PENSACOLA, FLA. – Mrs. Barbara Lee Wasdin, 91, of Pensacola, Fla. died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Wasdin was born on Feb. 6, 1915. She was an active member of Milestone Baptist Church for the last 40 years, a member of Golden Friends and a beloved babysitter to many children.
Mrs. Wasdin's husband, James M. Wasdin, and son, James H. Wasdin, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers, Murray Daniels of Daphne and J.C. Daniels of Tuscaloosa; one grandson, Dion (Carrie) Wasdin of Huxford; one granddaughter, Channon (Barry) Clanton of Lynn Haven, Fla.; six great grandchildren, Hunter, Brittany and James Wasdin and Cameron, Devin and Adia Clanton; a special niece, Carol Ann Chandler and may other nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Harris and the Rev. Richard Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Huxford Baptist Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Woody Chandler, Jamie Chandler, Sunny Miller, Barry Clanton, Johnny Johnson and Mathew Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be member of Mrs. Wasdin's Sunday school class.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Milestone Baptist Church, Pensacola, Fla.
Special thanks to the nurses at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola, Fla., the Atmore Nursing Center and Atmore Community Hospital for all the care and compassion Mrs. Wasdin received. Mrs. Wasdin was truly a Christian woman; being content with whatever circumstance she was in. All who knew here will miss her. We are all better by having been blessed with her in our lives.

James Thomas "Jamie" Carroll
MILTON, FLA. – Mr. James Thomas "Jamie" Carroll, 21, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12 at a Santa Rosa County Hospital.
Mr. Flowers was a native of Century, Fla. and a resident of Milton, Fla. for the past 14 years. He was a motivational speaker for the Center for the Blind, an avid racing fan and attended the Methodist Church.
Survivors include, his parents, Nick and Cindy Carroll of Milton, Fla.; two sisters, Clarissa Jean Carroll and Alexis Nicole Carroll, both of Milton, Fla.; his grandparents, John and Betty Townson of Byrneville, Fla. and Kate and Lonnie Carroll of Milton, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jesse Wood and the Rev. Diane Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Byrneville Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday Aug. 14, 2006 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Allen Holland, Dustin Holland, David Greene, Brent Scott, Dale Townson and Drew Townson. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Carroll, Mike Townson, Johnny Townson, Will Vegas, Danny King and Mike Parrott.
Otis Byrd
DAVISVILLE, FLA. – Mr. Otis Byrd, 87, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 in Cantonment, Fla.
Mr. Byrd was a native of Walnut Hill, Fla. and a resident of Davisville, Fla. for most of his life. He was retired from Swift Lumber Company, a past deacon of Pinebarren Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lucile Byrd.
Survivors include, his son, Charles Byrd of Davisville, Fla.; his daughter, Ruby Faye and Hollis Dortch of Cantonment, Fla.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Byrd of Pensacola, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Pinebarren Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Dortch, Eric Dortch, Chris Dortch, Jeremy Byrd, Billy Byrd and Jerry Ganey.
Rebecca C. Brown
WEST BLOCTON – Mrs. Rebecca C. Brown, 54, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 at a Tuscaloosa hospital.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Phoenix City, a former resident of Frisco City, a resident of West Blocton for the past three years and attended the Community Chapel Holiness Church.
Survivors include, her husband, Johnny Brown of West Blocton; her son, Lee and Johnny Kaye Brown of West Blocton; two granddaughters, Chelsea Kaye Brown and Mikaylia Leigh Brown; her mother, Voncile Johnson of Frisco City; a brother, Joe M. Johnson of Glennwood, Ga. and a sister, Hilda Moulton of Frisco City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Alpine officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Frisco City.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Aug. 16, 2006 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
