Mary Hanis Cumbie
ATMORE – Mrs. Mary Hanis Cumbie, 88, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mrs. Cumbie was a native of Mt. Pleasant, a former resident of Chrysler and a resident of Atmore for the past four years. She was an avid hunter and baseball fan, loved fishing and attended the Little River Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cumbie's husband, Bill Cumbie, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her son, Leon and Tammy Cumbie of Saraland; her daughter, Patsy and Almie Smith of Atmore; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Henderson King of Repton and Hugo King of Crestview and three sisters, Ann K. McDonald of Bay Minette, Brunette K. Woolf of Huntsville and Mazie Hadley of Atmore.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Davis officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Ruth Dunn Fleming Archer
CENTURY, FLA. – Mrs. Ruth "Miss Ruth" or "MeMa" Dunn Fleming Archer, 96, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 in Century, Fla.
Mrs. Archer was a native of Rocky Hill and a resident of Century, Fla. since 1926. She was a former employee of Alger Sullivan Lumber Company from 1931 to 1947, owner/operator of Archer Grocery Meat Market and Mercantile Store for most of her life and one of the oldest members of the Century Baptist Church.
Mrs. Archer's husband of 45 years, Edgar A. Archer; seven sisters and five brothers, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Gloria and Ramon Rydzowski of Flomaton; three grandsons, Steve and Donna Rydzowski of McDavid, Fla., Paul and Karen Rydzowski of Wing and Craig and Ann Rydzowski of Flomaton; six great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. William Terry "Pete" Dunn and the Rev. John Evangelista officiating. Burial followed in Flomaton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steven Wayne Rydzowski, Don Fussell, Ronnie Rydzowski, Curtis Jordan, Fred Salter and O'Neil Jordan. Honorary pallbearers were Lamar Dunn, Michael Dunn, David Dunn, Rodney Dunn, Reggie and Audry Melton.
Marian O. Norman.
Mrs. Marian O. Norman passed away Sept. 20, 2006 at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Norman was born Aug. 1, 1938 in Clanton. She was the daughter of the late Julius Culp and Iris Baker Culp. She married Dr. Robert Lee (Bob) Norman on March 1, 1955, in Thomasville and he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2005. Her sister, Dot Pettigrew, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Norman was a homemaker and a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Survivors include, her daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Billy Gray of Bainbridge, Ga., DeeDee and Donald Wilson of Thomasville, Ga.; her son and daughter-in-law, Dwight David and Lisa Norman of Foley.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Holeman, Oma Sanders and Blanche Ragan all of Thomasville, Ga. and brothers, Jim Culp of Thomasville, Ga. and J.R. Culp of Albany, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Massey and the Rev. Gwynn Hayes officiating. Interment followed in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 at the funeral home.
