WSD serves up competitive tennis tourney

The weather couldn't have been better for the Williams Station Day tennis tournament.
Coordinator Betty Warren said the players commented on the perfect weather and good competition.
Though the competition was good, Warren said she would like to have more players enter the annual tournament.
Proceeds from the WSD tournament benefit activities for retired personnel from Huxford Elementary School.
Winners in this year's tournament are listed below.
Men's A singles – Tommy White, Atmore, def. Tim Russell, Jay, 3-6; 6-1; 6-2.
Men's B singles – Randall Adams, Atmore, def. James Ash, Atmore, default.
Women's singles – Pam White, Atmore, def. Brandy Rigsby, Atmore, 3-6; 6-4; 7-6.
Men's A doubles – Jim Sims, Milton, and John Roth, Pensacola, def. Billy Madison, Atmore, and Lou Vickery, Birmingham, 6-4; 4-6; 6-3.
Men's B doubles – Merrill Ledford and John Strahle, Atmore, def. Tommy White, Atmore, and Mark Faust, Natchez, Miss., 6-4; 6-4.
Women's doubles – Tracey Lambrecht and Sandy Harrelson, Bay Minette, def. Donna Anderson and Betsy Sims, Pensacola, 7-6; 6-4.
Mixed doubles – Donna Anderson and John Roth, Pensacola, def. Karen Smith, Pensacola, and Tim Russell, Jay, 6-4; 6-4
