The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Atmore Class of 2006 is at it again.
Next Saturday, the group will gather once again for its second "Atmore's Picking Up" project in preparation for Williams Station Day. And as before, the class is seeking helpful citizens who are willing to get down and dirty all for a good cause.
"We want to help instill pride in our community, we want Atmore to be best," Leadership Class president Chad Bartz said. "That's why we are devoted to our project to keep Atmore clean, but we can't do it without the help of the citizens."
The Leadership Class is encouraging area residents and businesses to organize teams to participate in the Atmore's Picking Up campaign, which will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 at city hall. Cleanup teams are asked to be there at 8 a.m. for staging.
The project's focus is simple; clean up Atmore for the betterment of the community. But cleaning up the town will take more than just the efforts of Leadership Atmore's 19-member class.
"We had several individuals and businesses agree to be picking up partners during our recent fundraising efforts and look forward to that relationship to grow," Bartz said. "This will be our first clean up with our partners and are hoping each one will show up help make the day a success."
The clean up will focus on roadside clean up, but the class is encouraging residents to pick up around their homes.
The clean up day will conclude between 11:30 a.m. and noon on Oct. 14 with a lunch for volunteers at city hall.
