Jessie Percy Bradford
URIAH – Mr. Jessie Percy Bradford, 69, of Uriah passed away Jan. 2, 2007 in Maryville, Tenn.
Mr. Bradford was a longtime resident of Monroe County and had been in Maryville, Tenn. since July 2006. He was a truck driver and a Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include, three sons, Greg Bradford and wife Kim of Maryville, Tenn., Jerry Bradford of Pensacola, Fla., Mark Bradford of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Nell Brown of Atmore and Kathleen Sparks of Spanish Fort; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at 11a.m. at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Uriah with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial followed graveside services at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers that Memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale Street, Mailstop 505, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
Monroe Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Preston "Peb" McNeil
E. BREWTON – Mr. Preston "Peb" McNeil, 71, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3,2006 at a Pensacola hospital. Mr. McNeil was a native of Georgiana, a former resident of Atmore for most of his life, and a resident of East Brewton for the past four months. He was preceded in death by a son, James Darell McNeil.
Survivors include, his son, Troy McNeil of East Brewton; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Inez Fordham of McCullough.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 7, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Georgiana.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 6, 2006 from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Thelton McNeil, Willie Frank Hall, Wayne Johnson, Claude Tuberville, Bo Ward and J.J. Odom.
Lilla Bell Powell Miller
THEODORE – Mrs. Lilla Bell Powell Miller, 72, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at a Mobile hospital.
Mrs. Miller was a native of Atmore and a resident of Theodore since 2003. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and attended the Orchard Baptist Church.
Survivor include: two sons, James Allen and Karen Terry, Jr. of Bay Minette and William Kendrick and Swanee Terry of Mobile; two daughters, Barbara Terry and Jerry Davis of Rogersville and Kathy Terry and David Lee of Theodore; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Oma Lee Rutherford and Joyce Robertson, both of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 8, 20007 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev.,Everett Childers officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 from 1 p.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Chris A. Hollingsworth
WALNUT HILL, FLA. – Mr. Chris A. Hollingsworth, 27, of Walnut Hill, Fla. passed away Jan. 1, 2007 in Pascagoula, Miss.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born Sept. 17, 1979 in Pascagoula, Miss. He was educated at Northview High School where he was an active member of the yearbook staff and FFA president. Chris started his career with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, while a junior in high school. At his death, he was employed with Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point and National Vision Center in Theodore. He was a server/bartender at Ruby Tuesday's in Moss Point for six years.
Chris was active in the community and loved working with people and being with friends. He was a member of Krewe of Vesta, where he served as host for four years, as Duke in 2004 and was crowned King in 2007.
Mr. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by grandparents, Grady and Agnes Hollingsworth; Charles and Ethel Marie Cothran; aunts, Kathy Ruge and Doris Long; uncles, Charlie Cothran and Bob Hollingsworth, and cousins, Billy Lambert.
Survivors include, his father, Andy Hollingsworth of Walnut Hill, Fla.; mother, Sonja Cothran of Wade, Miss.; brother, Scott Hollingsworth of Deere Creek, Miss.; grandmother, Peggy Goff of Hurley, Miss.; aunts and uncles, Melba and Donald Cook of Walnut Hill, Fla., Dewey and Joyce Hollingsworth of Atmore, George Long of Christian Home, Fla., Martin and Winnie Hollingsworth of Tallahassee, Fla., Winston and Marie Hollingsworth of Africa, Dorothy and Auther Ray McKenzie of Atmore, Donna and James Godwin of Madison, Marvin and Nettie Hollingsworth of Walnut Hill, Fla., Lisa Goff of Pensacola, Fla., Stephanie Cothran of Escatawpa, Miss. and Leshell and Les Brown of Grand Bay; numerous cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 5 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Holder- Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss. Funeral Services followed at 8 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gene Emswiler and the Rev. Rodney Coleman officiating.
A second visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with a service that followed at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery in Nokomis, Fla.
