Atmore keeps Mardi Gras fun
The city of Atmore does a great job of keeping citizens in town for special occasions, such as Mardi Gras.
Saturday afternoon there was a Mardi Gras Parade hosted by the Ladies of Essence, which enabled citizens and guests of all ages to get into the community to have a festive time with the candy, moon pies and beaded necklaces that were thrown into the crowd.
Both the Mardi Gras Ball and the Mardi Gras Parade allowed the people of Atmore to have a great time without having to drive all the way down to Mobile to celebrate.
The Mardi Gras Ball allowed those who love to dance to boogie down and the parade allowed the children as well as the adults of the area view decorated floats, trucks and cars as well as catch the traditional Mardi Gras paraphernalia.
Not only is it better for the community economically to keep people in town for occasions such as Mardi Gras due to keeping people in town to eat and shop. But, it is also safer.
The trek to Mobile is approximately 60 miles from Atmore. By staying in town you not only save gas money but you are also in a trustworthy area. The hour drive to Mobile can be a dangerous one, not to mention when you get down in the midst of all the Mardi Gras mania, the commotion can be scary and treacherous.
It is important to support the community events such as the ball and parade because it keeps the cash registers full at our local businesses and it also keeps our residents safer.
