The buzz throughout the community is that because Greenlawn Pharmacy is selling to Walgreens, that Greenlawn Home Health Care Center will be shutting its doors as well. This is not the case.
Greenlawn Home Health Care Center will now be called Greenlawn Home Care and will continue to be open to the community at 810 E. Craig Street.
Greenlawn Pharmacy owner Jim Justice said that because Walgreens bought his pharmacy, community members are confused about the continuing existence of the Home Care facility.
"We want to let people know that Walgreens did not buy the home health building," Justice said.
Greenlawn Home Care employee Shirley Zimmerman said that because their pictures were always taken with Greenlawn Pharmacy employees, individuals throughout the area are assuming that Greenlawn Home Care is closing along with the pharmacy.
"We just want everybody to know that we are still here," Zimmerman said. "Because our picture was with everyone else, they think we are closing but we'll still be here."
Greenlawn Home Care director Teresa Booker said that she does not believe that the pharmacy closing will affect their business since they are two different entities.
"If it does effect us it won't be by much," Booker said. "We do Medicare billing and that's something other drug stores don't offer. We have a variety of home care equipment. I don't foresee the close affecting us at all. We are two different types of stores."
Greenlawn Home Care will continue offering customers the same products, such as diabetic supplies including meters, testing supplies and diabetic shoes. They also have walkers, canes, braces, compression hosiery, hospital beds, wheelchairs and oxygen.
"We have the full line of homecare needs," Booker said. "We actually measure for hoses and braces. If you are taking care of homebound patients, we have pretty much everything you need. We also do mastectomy, we measure and fit for the bra and prosthesis so when they (the customer) leaves they are comfortable."
More products Greenlawn Home Care offers are commodes, bath benches, bath rails, ultrasonic humidifiers, crutches, cast shoes and protectors, custom and semi-custom support garments, egg crate mattresses, ostomy supplies and inhalation equipment.
The facility also offers a 24-hour emergency service.
The same employees will be running Greenlawn Home Care, including Becky Brown, Rufus Watson, Zimmerman and Booker. They will be providing the community with the same friendly service and care their customers have come to expect.
