Alice Faye Hall
ATMORE – Ms. Alice Faye Hall, 57, a resident and native of Atmore, died on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Atmore Community Hospital.
Ms. Hall was a graduate of Escambia County Training School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church.
Her daughter, Arlene Michelle Hall of Atmore; two sisters, Minnie Ruth Welch of Atmore and Dora Hall of Jackson of Tuskegee and three brothers, Elmore S. Welch and Mack O. Welch, both of Atmore and Dr. W.T. Hall Jr. of Birmingham, all survive Ms. Hall.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2007 at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Hawthorne, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel of Atmore directing.
Lillie Grant English
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Mrs. Lillie Bell Grant English, 66, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Atmore, died on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Mrs. English graduated from Escambia County Training School and received her Licensed Practical Nurse's training at Pensacola Junior College. She was an LPN at Baptist Hospital prior to her retirement in 2003.
Her husband, Ned English of Pensacola, Fla.; twin daughters, Tange English of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Tonge English of Smyrna, Ga.; son, Ned English Jr. of Douglasville, Ga.; two sisters, Climmie Lindsey-Johnson of Atmore and Evelyn Grant of Milton, Fla.; mother-in-law, Clara English of Pensacola, Fla.; six sisters-in-laws and six brothers-in-laws, all survive Mrs. English.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007 at the Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church (Freemanville Community) in Atmore with Elder Sydney Grant, eulogist and the Rev. Robert Davis, pastor, officiating.
Interment was held in the Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis with Turner Funeral Chapel of Atmore directing.
Dannie Mae Brooks Montgomery
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – Mrs. Dannie Mae Brooks Montgomery, 94, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of Atmore, died on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 at Hacienda Rehabilitation and Care Center in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Mrs. Montgomery was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church in Atmore where she was on the Usher Board and a Stewardess. In 1995, she was recognized for 60 years of dedicated service at Gaines Chapel. She was known for her baking skills and loved flowers and gardening.
Her daughter, Mildred (Eddie) Longmire of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two sisters, Carrie Little of Amityville, N.Y. and Juliet Bartley of Sterling, Va.; brother, Thomas Brooks of Chicago; two granddaughters, three great grandchildren and a very devoted friend, Bessie Brock, all survive Mrs. Montgomery.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at the Gaines Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Joseph Williams, pastor, officiating. Interment was held in Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel of Atmore directing.
Irma Beasley Crocker
MOBILE – Mrs. Irma Beasley Crocker, 93, of Mobile died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 in Mobile.
Mrs. Crocker was a retired clerk with the railroad, born in Red Level on March 27, 1914 to the late George L. and Roscilla Mason Beasley.
Her sister, Nanie Steele and three brothers, Graham Beasley, Archie Beasley and Homer Beasley, each preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her devoted husband of 57 years, Ledyard "Jeff" Crocker, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 from the Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Brother James Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007.

Elder Warner O. Moss
STOCKTON – Elder Warner O. Moss, 73, of Stockton died on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 at his residence.
Warner was born May 29, 1934 in Henderson, Texas to Isabell and Hudson Moss. At an early age, Warner moved to Chicago. The hand of the almighty God was always upon Warner, he sought a deeper relationship with God and in 1963 was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost at Faith Tabernacle A.O.H. Church of God located at 102 W. 59th Street in Chicago.
Under the leadership of the honorable late Bishop James H. Durham, Warner confessed his call to preach the gospel, so he dedicated his life to the enlightenment of women, men and boys and girls and to the truth, love and deliverance through the word of God. Warner served faithfully as assistant pastor to Bishop James H. Durham. As he grew in stature and wisdom, he was ordained as elder.
Warner began to pastor on Nov. 21, 1976. He was the founder of the Pentecostal Apostle Church of God located at 51525 Indiana Avenue in Chicago until his health started to fail and he could no longer work. He then moved to Alabama and united with Christ Temple Apostle Church where he faithfully served under the honorable Bishop James E. Finley.
Warner attended elementary and high school and graduated with honors. He continued his education and graduated from Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas with a degree in the art of plumbing. He worked for the Chicago Housing Authority for 38 years and retired. God answered his prayers on Nov. 25, 1967 when he married Alberta Stevens. Their love and respect for one another excelled to the highest heights and the deepest depths for 39 years of honey love. Thank you Lord.
The angels came for Warner, 73, and he fell asleep unto life eternal on Thursday morning, Aug. 2, 2007 at 5:15 a.m. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Albert Stevens Moss; one brother, Rudolph Moss; one son, Lafayette (Charisse) Young Sr. of Chicago; one brother-in-law, Joe Ervine Stevens of Stockton; sisters-in-laws, Georgia Belisle and Bessie Williams, both of Chicago, Elizabeth Stevens and Fannie Horace of Stockton; five very delightful grandchildren, Lafayette, Sherria, Eray, Charmen and Cameron; one great grandchild, Joshua; God's sons and daughter, James, Sam, Tania, Williams, Juan and Nichalson; 60-80 nieces and nephews; very special loved cousins, Ruth and Betty Stevens and an enormous number of relatives and other friends and saints all of whom he hopes to see in glory.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007 from Mt. Calvary Pentecostal House of Praise in Bay Minette. Burial followed at Robinson Cemetery in Stockton.
Viewing was held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
John Henry Cooler
BARTH, Fla. – Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Cooler, 34, of Barth, Fla. were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 at Pentecostal Temple COGIC in Pensacola, Fla. Interment followed in White Lily Cemetery in Barth, Fla.
His body laid instate at the church from 11:30 a.m. until funeral service time with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Lillie Modelle Bryars
PERDIDO – Ms. Lillie Modelle Bryars, 87, of Perdido died on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at her residence.
Ms. Modelle worked for Manor Slacks in Bay Minette for 32 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Plains Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1956.
Her husband, Orie Bryars; three sons, O.W. Bryars, Gene Autry Bryars and Wiley Bryars; an infant daughter and an infant great grandson, Tommy Alexander Gilliam, all preceded Ms. Bryars in death.
Survivors include, two sons, Glenn and Sarah Bryars of Perdido and Benjamin and Dee Bryars of Perdido; six daughters, Ora Mae White of Perdido; Shelby and Joe Brown of Perdido, Peggy Lou and Robert White of Bay Minette, Glenda and Larry Gilliam of Perdido, Shelia and Robert Michaels of Chancellor and Deborah and Randolph Conway of Perdido; two brothers, Wesley Long and George Long, both of Christian Home, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Joyce Bryars of Mineola and sister-in-law, Olivia Aikens of Mobile. Ms. Bryars was blessed with many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 from Splinterhill Holiness Church with Sister Thursia Long, the Rev. James Peacock and the Rev. Shawn Major officiating. Ms. Bryars laid in state at the church one hour prior to service time.
Burial followed at Bryars-McGill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keegan Williamson, Joey Brown, Allan Brown, Rusty White, Kevin Gilliam, Joseph Gilliam, Edward Gardner, Charles Gardner, Donald Gardner, Keith Stewart, Trent Stewart, Randy Conway, Chris Conway, Frank Bryars and Timothy Bryars.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Robert "RC" Rabb
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Funeral services for Mr. Robert "RC" Rabb of Bloomfield, Conn., formerly of Atmore, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at the Jones Street Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop Willie Williams officiating.
Interment will be in the Rabb Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
