The main branch of First National Bank and Trust not only has added a more colorful backdrop on downtown Atmore, but now they are in the process of adding an area outside for rest and relaxation.
FNB&Trust recently constructed its facility on South Main Street, adding an array of lights for Atmore community members who enjoy cruising down the streets at nighttime. Now, according to bank president Shep Marsh, an addition of a 'park' will be placed beside the bank on Hwy. 31.
"It will be a sidewalk with a flag pole," Marsh said. "There will also be a couple of benches and the rest will be landscape. We are going to put a clock out by the sidewalk also."
The completion date of the miniature park is not set yet, according to Marsh.
"We are working on the irrigation for the landscaping," he said. "We hope in the next couple of days to have the sidewalk poured. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be done."
The benches and landscaping is not just for the enjoyment of bank employees, either. Anybody in the community that would like to enjoy lunch or dinner in a nice environment can visit the park.
"Anybody who wants to come out there and sit can," Marsh said.
The reason for adding the decorative park to the already vibrant FNB&Trust is simple, Marsh said.
"We wanted to try and add something to the way downtown Atmore looks," he said.
