Atmore residents driving by Heritage Park and the Atmore T-ball fields Monday night more than likely witnessed middle and high school students in a bit of a 'cruddy' mess.
Young Life hosted its third annual Crud Fest event Monday at the Atmore T-ball fields and area director Chad Green said the event was a massive amount of good, and gross, times.
"We threw water balloons, flour, a 'crud' mixture with secret ingredients and shaving cream," Green said. "Then the fire department came down and hosed us down. It was a lot of fun."
Green said the most fun was when Atmore Fire Department personnel hosed the crud off everyone.
"The fire department was great," he said. "That was literally the best part of the night. We could probably have a fire hose night."
Green said Young Life hosts the Crud Fest every fall in order to begin the Young Life year of fun off right.
"It kicks off our fall semester and it's fun," he said. "It's probably the most fun the kids in the community will have all year."
The Crud Fest is also a way to bring in new teens to participate with Young Life.
"We always have new kids show up every year after this," Green said.
Young Life is an outreach ministry to middle and high school students. It has been a part of the Atmore area for a little more than two years and is a non-profit organization. The Atmore Young Life building is located at 110 S. Pensacola Ave. and it is a place where Atmore's youth can go relax and be youth. And, according to www.younglife.org, "Young Life brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents with an approach that is respectful of who kids are and hopeful about who they can be."
