Jones, Maxwell guests for Girl Talk
Every Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. WNSI 105.9 FM in Atmore has "Girl Talk" hosted by Atmore resident Susan Smith.
Today's special guest is Bob Jones, CEO of United Bank and Richard Maxwell, owner and president of Maxwell Construction.
Both guests will speak about the Rivercane project and the impact it will have on Atmore and the surrounding area.
They will also talk about new projects and events taking place in the near future.

Auxiliary seeking WWII veterans
The American Legion Auxiliary is seeking the names of any area World War II veterans. We wish to honor them with a brunch on Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. If you are a veteran of this war or know of someone who is a veteran of that war, please notify us. 'Connections' meeting set for Thursday
The support group "Connections," a prison ministry for family and friends of the long-term incarcerated, will meet Sept. 20 at Hospitality House at 3 p.m.

Greater Mt. Triumph hosts revival
Annual Revival Services of The Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church Sept. 24-28 at 7 p.m. nightly. The guest minister for the week, the Rev. John Henry Williams Jr., with Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Birmingham.
Prayer Log Camp meeting in September
The annual Prayer Log Camp Meeting will be held Sept. 17-21, Monday through Friday, with services beginning at 7 p.m. Preaching Monday night will be with the Rev. Buddy Williams and "New Direction" will sing, Tuesday night the Rev. Wayne McMillan will preach and "Grateful Heart" will sing, Wednesday the Rev. Randy Davis will preach and "The Davis Family" will sing, Thursday the Rev. Gregg Wood will preach and "Southern Gospel" will sing and on Friday the Rev. James Moore will preach and 'The Hooks and Browning Band" will sing.
The camp is located three miles west of Peterman on Ridge Road, near Cobb Fir Towers. Signs will be posted from Highway 21 north of Monroeville. The Rev. Kenneth Johnson invites everyone to attend.
Bratt Assembly revival continues
Bratt Assembly of God Church will have Revival Sept. 16-23. It will start at 7 p.m. on the weekdays and at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Evangelist Lowell Haynes will be the guest speaker.
Dr. Mashburn will speak at Trinity
Dr. Ted Mashburn, distinguished professor at the University of Mobile, will be speaking Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 203 S. Carney Street. The lecture is free and open to the public.
United Fund kicks year off Sept. 20
The United Fund kick off celebration will be held as the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours Sept. 20 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Atmore Heritage Park.
Community members are welcome to bring a lawn chair and join for fun.
The event will include hotdogs, Pepsi, snow cones, door prizes, popcorn and activities and entertainment for children.
Northview needs volunteers for council
Northview High School needs volunteers for its 2007-08 school advisory council. The council meets four times each year after school. NHS administration encourages any interested parents and community members to call the school at 327-6681 ext. 221 before Sept. 21.
Coalition meeting Sept. 22 in Brewton
The Coalition meeting will be held Sept. 22 at 7 a.m. in the education center at D.W. McMillan Hospital. The focus of the meeting will be environmental issues related to the United States and Timberland Landfill.
GED given at Reid State Sept. 26-27
The GED test at Reid State will be held Sept. 26-27. The four parts (Writing/Essay, Social Studies, Science and Reading) of the GED test will be given.
All applicants must pre-register for the GED test. Registration is Sept. 24-25 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Building #100.

Friday night dances at VFW open to public
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's FREEDOM BAND. If you like good, clean, safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 W. Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. "Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment. Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.

The Atmore SAIL Center will host a yard sale Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. until noon at 300 E. Ridgely Street, inside the building.
First Presbyterian to host reception
First Presbyterian Church will host a reception for its new minister, Rev. James Thorpe, and his family on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
The reception will be held in the church fellowship hall at 208 East Horner Street. The community is invited to come and join in welcoming the Thorpes to Atmore.
Blood drive slated for Oct. 11 at City Hall
The Atmore Fire Department and the American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive Oct. 11 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The blood drive will be held in Atmore City Hall in the auditorium.
All donors will receive a free T-shirt and two weeks of free tanning at Club Sun.

Concerned Citizens meet Saturdays
The Concerned Citizens of Atmore Civil Club meet every third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 313 N. Main St., which is the Unity House. The public is invited.
Atmore Library kicks off Wee Ones Program
The Atmore Public Library will host the Wee Ones Program on every Thursday at 10 a.m. Wee Ones follows the school year calendar.
FBC participates in Christian Care
First Baptist Church Atmore will participate in the ministry of the Atmore Area Christian Care Ministry. Receptacles will be placed in the sanctuary for the donations and food items.
Items particularly needed include, canned meats, canned pasta, canned fruit, corn meal, flour and cooking oil.
"Dixie Echoes" in concert Sept. 27
"The Dixie Echoes" of Pensacola, Fla. will be in concert at The New Home Church near Monroeville, on Sept. 27. There will be no charge for admission, but a love offering will be received. The singing will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Johnson and the Rev. Thomas Smith invites everyone to attend. New Home Church is located just north of U.S. Highway 84 between Repton and Monroeville.
