Ecstasy, meth seized in bust

Atmore area residents Charles Wade Madison and Chad Cole Smith were arrested on Nov. 1 in Brewton for the unlawful possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
According to a press release from the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, Madison and Smith were traveling down Hwy. 31 South in Brewton when officers with the task force pulled them over with a routine traffic stop.
Madison was driving the vehicle and Smith was his only passenger. After the initiation of the traffic stop and after additional investigation, the agents with the task force found Crystal Methamphetamines and Ecstasy tablets in the possession of the two men.
Also, pipes that are used for smoking the Crystal Methamphetamines were found. Both Madison and Smith were arrested and taken to the Escambia County Detention Center and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance-Meth, unlawful possession of a controlled substance-Ecstasy and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Madison is a white male from Atmore and Smith is a white male from Walnut Hill, Fla.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney's Office, Poarch Police Department and the Escambia County Commission make up the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force receives 50 percent of its funding from grants provided by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs administers the grant money. The Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's Office supplies the remainder of the funding.
