Atmore's Christmas spirit

Atmore has many fun and festive activities to help create the Christmas mood during the holidays.
On Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Evening with Santa. The event will be at Atmore's Heritage Park, which is located at the corner of Main and Craig streets.
"Santa likes to make a big splash," Chamber executive director Emilie Mims said. "He will arrive on a fire truck."
Mims said Santa Clause will arrive with many elves to help make the night a fun-filled affair.
Santa will be on hand to take photos with the many girls and boys of the Atmore area, Mims said. Peacock Photography will be in charge of the photography. Prices are one 5X7 and four wallet-sized photos for $10 or two 5X7s and eight wallet-sized photos for $18.
The event will be sponsored by Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union.
Other holiday activities in the town of Atmore include two parades, the Poarch Christmas Parade and the Chamber's Twilight Christmas Parade.
The Poarch Parade will be held Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at the PCI Reservation and the Twilight Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. beginning at Atmore City Hall.
Atmore has several activities to ensure residents the most merry of Christmas' yet.
