The Atmore United Fund received some generous donations last week that has increased the total amount raised for this year's drive significantly.
According to United Fund secretary Cathy McKinley, employees at Masland Carpets pledged to contribute $10,000.68, which was matched by the company with $10,000. The lofty donations increased the total contributed by $20,000.68 putting the drive over the halfway point. A total of $48,625.96 has been collected as of Dec. 24.
The drive is still in full swing for the organization's annual drive to raise funds that help supplement several agencies in Atmore and Escambia County.
