Classic Gifts offers massage opportunity
Take advantage of a massage opportunity offered at Classic Gifts in Flomaton today until 5 p.m. Call the shop to schedule a 15-minute massage.
Donations will be accepted and used for the Solon Lee Gandy Scholarship to be given away to a deserving Flomaton High School senior this year
Madden 2008 tourney Saturday
There will be a Playstation 2 Tournament, Madden 2008, this weekend in the Escambia County Middle School gym.
The game is double elimination and competitors must bring their own joysticks. No memory cards are allowed.
The event is sponsored by the Concerned Citizens of Atmore and all proceeds will support the MLK Little League, renovation of the Unity House and the food pantry and clothing closet.
There is a $25 entry fee for the competition and the winner will take home $300 and a trophy.
Game time is 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Cantonment church revival continues
Kingsfield Worship Center Church, located at 807 West Kingsfield Road in Cantonment, Fla., will host a revival with Gene Vincent.
Pastor Josh Pope and the congregation offer an invitation for everyone to attend the revival, which is Feb. 17-20. Sunday’s event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and Monday-Wednesday the event will be held at 7 p.m. Pope says Brother Vincent brings a “little flavor with his music (Cajun style) along with the uncompromised Word of God.

Business Before Hours slated today
The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Before Hours entitled “Doing Business on the Internet,” presented by Jeff Peacock.
The event will be held today at 7:30 a.m. at Annie’s Community Cup, located at 125 North Main St.
Peacock is no stranger to the world of Internet business. He is the owner of the Paper Station and has maintained an online business for many years.
Coffee and breakfast muffins will be served at the event.
Liberty church celebrates 22 years
The Liberty Church family at 200 3rd Ave. will celebrate their 22nd Anniversary on Feb. 24 at 10:15 p.m.

Commission to meet Feb. 25 in Brewton
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session on Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, room 201, at the Escambia County Court House in Brewton.
The administrative workshop will be held on Feb. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Credit union meeting slated for Feb. 26
The annual membership meeting of the Alabama River Employees Credit Union is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Monroeville Community House 271 Park Drive Monroeville.
New Beginning hosts February revival
Holy Ghost Revival will be held at New Beginning Church Feb. 25-29 at 7:30 p.m. with Bishop Tommie Thomas Sr. as pastor.
Coalition to meet Feb. 28 in Brewton
The February Coalition Meeting will be Feb. 28 at 7 a.m. in the Strandell Conference Room at D.W. McMillan Hospital. There will be program updates and environmental issues discussed.
Heims to perform at Trinity Episcopal
On Feb. 28 at 7 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Church will present the Heim Duo in concert.
The husband and wife team will perform a program featuring various styles of music on classical guitar and flute. Bret and Annette Heim perform with the Mobile Symphony and have appeared in concert in various venues in America and in England. Trinity's concert is free and open to the public.

Grant applications due Feb. 29
Each year Atmore's Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International makes available a $150 grant-in-aid to a deserving female graduating high school who plans to enter the teaching profession, or a female college student currently enrolled in a college’s school of education.
Interested applicants are asked to submit an essay titled "Why I Want to Go Into the Education Field" along with their name, parent's name, address and phone number to: Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, 210 E. Pine Street, Atmore, Alabama 36502
Deadline for submitting the application papers is Feb. 29.
Church hosts leap year singing Feb. 29
There will be a leap year singing at New Home Baptist Church on Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.
Featured are New Direction, Grateful Heart, Condie Browning, Faron McKinley, Kenny Lee and The Old Timers with Rev. Kenneth Johnson.
The Ladies of Woodlawn Methodist Church will be having a cake auction. Admission is free.
There will be a love offering taken and all proceeds from the offering and cake auction will go toward the future singings at New Home.
New Home Baptist is between Repton and Monroeville, just off Hwy. 84 north. Everyone is invited.
Atmore T-Ball League holds registration
The Atmore T-Ball League will hold registration from until March 1 at the Atmore Area YMCA &Community Center. Registration will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon.
Cost for each child ages 5-7 is $30.
Walnut Hill softball clinic slated March 1
Girls ages 12 and under Softball Pitching Clinic will be held at NWE Ballpark in Walnut Hill, Fla. March 1 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Pre-register Feb. 9, 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. or March 1 from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the park. The cost will be $20 per person due on the day of registration.

Needlework exhibit slated for March 6
Art Needlework Exhibit: Gulf Coast Stitchery Guild presents a biennial exhibition of needlework completed by guild members. Open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Feb. 11 – March 6 in the fellowship hall of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2203 12th Avenue in Pensacola, Fla.
The Gulf Coast Stitchery Guild is an educational and social organization with members from across a wide expanse of the Gulf Coast. Guests and new members are welcome.

Next HOF meeting slated for March 6
The Atmore Area Hall of Fame committee met Feb. 7 for the first time since inducting the 2007 class last November. Three of the committee members have resigned. Silverzee Brown, George Roberts and Byard Swift are no longer with the committee. Mavis Torence and James Barnett have been approached to fill two of those missing spots.
There are many names flooding in for the 2008 class, but committee chairman Lou Vickery said proper documentation must be provided before a name will be considered.
The next scheduled committee meeting is March 6 at 4 pm in the meeting room at the Atmore Public Library.

Atmore area artists wanted for contest
A $1,000.00 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by the Sacramento Rainbow Poets, free to everyone. There are 50 prizes in all totaling almost $5,000. The deadline for entering is March 10.

"We think great religious poems can inspire achievement," Dr Bobby Brown, the organization's contest director, said. Health awareness day slated March 8
The J F Shields/MCTS Alumni Association is sponsoring a Community Health Awareness Day on March 8 from 8 a.m. until noon. Information will be available for law enforcement officers, high school counselors and health department nurses will be on site checking your blood pressure among other things.

Ingram hosts oil painting classes
Margie Ingram will be hosting oil painting classes on March 10, 17 and 24. The classes will be held at Vikki Day’s Gallery 106 W. Ridgeley St. in Atmore from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The cost of the classes is $70 and that will include supplies for all three days.
Historical society to meet March 17
The Atmore Historical Society will meet on March 17 at 6 p.m. at Heritage Pa rk.
Relay for Life slated for April 26 at ECHS
Atmore’s Relay for Life will be held April 26. The theme for this year’s event is “cancer has no borders.” Each team has chosen a country that also has Relay for Life and will incorporate that country into decorations and food.
The event will be held at Escambia County High School.
First Assembly hosts health, wellness fair
There will be a free Women's Health &Wellness Fair at Atmore First Assembly on May 10 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Basketball camp forms now accepted
Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply.
Past participants include, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison.
Players from 50 states and 10 foreign countries attended the 2007 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team.
Camp locations include, Gainesville, Ga., Prescott, Ariz., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Babson Park, Fla., Champaign, Ill., Glassboro, N.J., Lebanon, Tenn., Commerce, Texas and Blacksburg, Va.
There is also a summer camp available for boys and girls ages 6-18 of all skill levels.

Continuing Education Classes at JDCC
Continuing Education Classes in Upholstery Basics are being offered at Jefferson Davis Community College.
Skills of identifying and using basic upholstery tools and operating an upholstery sewing machine are available. The start date is Feb. 19 and the end date is March 11. Times are Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Atmore JDCC campus.
