Elvis will be in the auditorium Thursday.
The Brewton Council of the Arts will present Travis Ledoyt, “the world’s best young Elvis” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Woodfin Patterson Auditorium at Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton. Tammy Robinson, president of the Brewton Arts Council, said she is excited about the upcoming performance.
Ledoyt utilizes an authentic four-piece band featuring an upright slap bass, guitar, piano and drums. He takes his audience back to a genuine 1956 concert.
Ledoyt was born in 1977 (the year Elvis died) in Greenfield, Mass. His love of music was evident from an early age, and he took piano lessons when he was 9 years old. He listened to his father’s recordings of Elvis and learned to sing along. He has a natural talent for the movements and singing voice. He has worked as backup for singing legends Little Richard, Johnny Rivers, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley’s Original Comets and others. He is the only tribute artist ever invited to perform at the Elvis Presley Days in Tupelo, Miss.
Tickets for the performance in Brewton will be on sale at the door. They are $15 for adults and $8 for students and group discounts are available. Call Edna at 251-867-2747 for more information.
The project is jointly supported by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the following corporate sponsors: Bank of Brewton; BankTrust of Brewton; Brewton Medical Center;
Citation/Alabama Ductile; The Curtis Finlay Foundation; First Progressive Bank; Hines Realty; McMillan, LTD; Natural Decorations Inc.; Stokes &Stokes, P.C.; Surgical Associates of South Alabama; T. R. Miller Mill Co.; and Earl H. Weaver Management Services.
