Cougars maim Lions for second win of season

The Escambia Academy Cougars put together a complete game on the diamond Monday against the Evangel Lions and walked away with a 7-3 victory.
"We hit the ball really well and played good defense," EA head coach Heath Gibson said. "And we got some great pitching from Tyler Brown and Jon Dean."
Dean (1-0), a sophomore, relieved senior starting pitcher Tyler Brown in the fourth inning and finished the game for the win. He allowed one run on two hits in four innings. He struck out two batters and walked three.
Brown allowed two runs on two hits, struck out one and walked two in three innings.
The Cougars jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning, but Evangel added one run of their own for a 2-1 EA lead after one inning. Evangel tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning.
The Cougars busted the game open, scoring one run in the fourth inning and four in the fifth. Evangel scored one in the bottom of the fifth for the final of 7-3.
Seniors Dustin Hall and Ethan Brooks led the Cougar offense, as they were both 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored. Hall added a double and two stolen bases and Brooks had one RBI and one walk. Brown was 1-for-4 and had one run scored and one stolen base. Sophomore James White went 1-for-4 with a double, one run scored and two RBIs.
