The Atmore Fire Department is taking advantage of Mayfest this weekend by setting up a site that will hold a wealth of information for area residents.
Staples said there will be an abundance of information available for those who stop by the fire department’s site on Saturday.
The department will provide information on teaching children the proper methods of calling 9-1-1, how to “Stop, Drop and Roll” and how to check smoke detectors and when it is necessary to change the batteries in smoke detectors.
Also the fire department will have fire extinguisher demonstrations and will help individuals map out an escape plan for their homes.
There will be brochures on hand with a plethora of information also. Even though the fire department will be on hand to provide many facts regarding fire safety, there will be something fun for children also.
The first 50 people at the fire department’s site will receive a free smoke detector, Staples said.
