Escambia Academy’s graduating class of 12 was a close-knit group, according to valedictorian Courtney Bruley and salutatorian Leigh Ann Everette.
Bruley, the daughter of Chris and Annise Bruley, said she had many great times with her classmates and will miss them as she continues her education at Troy University on the Chancellor’s Award, which is a full tuition scholarship.
Bruley participated in many extracurricular activities while spending time at EA including Duel Enrollment, Senior Beta Club, Pep Club, Student Government Association and Math Team. She was awarded as an Atmore Rotary Club Four-Year Academic All-Star.
Bruley served as her class vice president, she was on the 2007 Homecoming court and she was the varsity cheerleading captain.
But Bruley wasn’t just about hitting the books, she also served the community. She was an Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and a member of Atmore First Assembly of God.
Bruley was also the recipient of the Jr. Miss Self Expression Award.
Bruley plans to pass her education along to future students as she intends of attaining a degree in secondary education, English.
Bruley’s piece of advice for future graduating classes of EA is to “be the best you can be.”
Everette is the daughter of Earl and Diane Everette.
Everette was also involved in many different activities at EA. She was a Duel Enrollment student, a Senior Beta Club member, SGA president, Prowler Yearbook editor, class chaplain, Math Team member, was on the 2007 Homecoming court, was a Girls State Representative, a Southern Pine Representative and was a Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award winner.
Everette was also a Rotary Club Four-Year Academic All-Star and a Chamber Ambassador. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church and its MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) group. She also was a member of the WNSI 105.9 “High School Today” report member.
Everette had many fun memories while at the Academy.
Everette’s advice to future graduates is for them to slow down.
