After two months of not having a sports editor at the Atmore Advance, the position was recently filled with 22-year-old Chandler Myers.
Myers’ first day at the Advance was Monday and he said he is already enjoying the City of Atmore.
Myers is the only child of Randy and Lynn Myers of Birmingham. He graduated from Clay-Chalkville High School in 2004.
After high school, Myers attended the University of Alabama. He graduated May 10 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in criminal justice.
Myers has a variety of experience with writing. Last year he worked for “Bama’s Ball Magazine,” which covered all Crimson Tide sports. He also worked for the University of Alabama’s student newspaper, the “Crimson White.”
Myers also has his foot in the door of radio. Every night he calls in to an Auburn radio station that his cousin DJs for and gives a “random fact.”
Atmore Newspapers, Inc. publisher Adam Prestridge said he looks forward to Myers working with the Advance staff.
Myers said he chose to accept the job at the Advance because he felt at ease on his interview.
