Visionaires Production presented the 2008 Summer Gospel Explosion Sunday evening at Escambia County Middle School where a variety of groups provided musical entertainment all in the name of God, according to event promoter Minister Rodney America.
The Visionaires of Atmore were the host group for the event. America also serves as the Visionaires’ manager and singer. The Perryman Singers of Mobile were one of the performers. The Perryman Singers’ CD “Use Me Lord” was recently released. Montgomery group, Gospel Chronicles, were also in attendance to perform. Gospel Chronicles group member Leroy Knight Jr. is America’s cousin. George Dean and the Gospel Four “G4” served as the headliner.
Pastor Mary America along with church members of 2nd Chance Faith Miracle Holiness Church, located at 112 Union St., started the event with a devotional and Lady Jarmond of Mobile was the MC.
There were also some vendors at the event from Hattiesburg, Miss., Pensacola, Fla. and Tupelo, Miss. There were CDs, photos, T-shirts, hats and other memorabilia for sell at the Gospel Explosion.
America is already anticipating hosting a Gospel Explosion for next year, he said.
The next thing on the agenda for the Visionaires is an anniversary celebration.
