As Bill Perkins takes on the role of Atmore Community Hospital administrator and Baptist Health Care president, Bob Gowing will take his career on a new path as he joins the Baptist Hospital campus leadership team to help prep for the West Florida Hospital acquisition.
Perkins will officially take over the position of administrator of ACH on Aug. 4, while Gowing will begin his new roll in Pensacola, Fla. at that time.
Perkins said the people are just one of the many reasons why he chose to become leader at ACH.
Perkins has been with Baptist Health Care since April of 1990 and has been in management and administrative positions. His most recent duty was corporate director of decision support.
For a majority of the year, Perkins has worked with Gowing and the hospital’s board members to help identify and implement service and growth initiatives at ACH.
Perkins said there are a few new things possibly in store for the hospital.
Perkins said he also hopes ACH will have a presence within the Rivercane complex.
The new administrator received his master’s degree in health services administration from the University of St. Francis in Illinois. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of West Florida in Pensacola and an associate’s degree in business from Pensacola Junior College.
He is a part of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and also the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Perkins and his wife, Shelly, have four children.
In Gowing’s new position with Baptist Health Care, he will be a part of planning and integrating the new location and its services into the Baptist Health Care Corporation.
Baptist recently announced plans to expand by acquiring West Florida Hospital. Gowing will be a part of this expansion planning.
Gowing has been administrator of ACH for 10 years. He is happy for Perkins’ opportunity to take on the role and also the new opportunities for ACH.
Gowing said he will miss all the people who run the hospital.
