Growth as a community will pave the way for a brighter future in not only the City of Atmore, but its schools as well.
This was the message that Escambia County High School principal Harvey Means delivered on Wednesday afternoon.
Means spoke at the Atmore Lions Club at the Atmore Community Hospital and made his points clear.
Means said that he is here for the long haul in Atmore and appreciates how the city has embraced him.
ECHS has moved into phase two of Means' plan and after phase one the look of the school has improved, according to Means.
Means said there are new ideas he wants to bring to the school including a better relationship with parents and he added he would like to bring back a welding program.
Means focus then turned from the school to the city as he spoke on what improving the school could do for Atmore.
Means said that with the improvement of the public schools would come growth for Atmore because people would want to move their families to Atmore.
He added that he wants ECHS to not only be No. 1 in the county, but No. 1 in the state.
