For the third day straight, an Alabama State Fire Marshal will be at the scene today of a fire that destroyed a Jones Street home, according to Atmore Fire Department chief Gerry McGhee.
The fire, which broke out at 7:22 p.m. Sunday evening, destroyed the home located at 89 Jones Street. Upon arrival of fire personnel, the dwelling was completely engulfed in flames.
McGhee also commended his men for extinguishing the flames so quickly, saving nearby homes.
As of press time, the cause of the fire had not been determined. It is also unknown if arson is suspected.
The homeowner was not at home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Officers with the Atmore Police Department also responded to the scene.
