NWE falls to Utilities Board

Atmore Utilities Board gained a huge check in the win column Tuesday in Babe Ruth action dismantling Northwest Escambia in a 13-5 victory.

Things began slowly and looked close through the first two innings. For NWE Ryder Gifford and Mark Leegot things started in the first inning, but Ladarian Johnson kept things close of the Utilities Board with a first-inning run of his own.

AUB continued piling on the runs with scores from Nytorious Cooler, Marlon Lee, Jimmy Overstreet and Levi Soloman in the second inning. NWE followede suit with runs from Matt Lee, Blake Green and Zack Holland, leaving the score tied at 5 all heading into the third inning.

Both teams pitched defensive shut outs in the third allowing no runs from either dug out, but things began getting out of hand for NWE in the fourth inning as Cooler, Lee, Soloman and Johnson each found home plate for the second time in the game, followed by teammates Devon Robinson, Brandon Cummings and Carlos McNeal. After batting around Soloman sealed NWE’s loss with his third score of the game to give AUB a 13-5 victory.

AUB and NWE will play again in a rematch fo Tuesday’s game Friday, at 7:30 p.m. at Bradberry Park in Walnut Hill, Fla.
