13-year-old All-Stars advance to state

Atmore’s 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars took two out of three games from from the Brewton Babe Ruth All-Stars over the weekend to advance to the 2010 Alabama State 13-year-old Babe Ruth Tournament in Demopolis beginning Saturday.

Atmore’s district tournament in Brewton started off on a sour note as the hosting All-Stars took the first game 5-3 Friday night.

Things turned around in the second game later that night after a delay to fix lights with Atmore picking up the victory 8-5.

It all came down to the third and final game on Saturday morning with the two teams battling back-and-forth for several innings before Atmore scored four runs in the eighth inning to win the game 5-1.

Members of the 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Star team include Coby Smith, Tristan McAnally, Trey Weekes, Dalton Daniels, Nate Smith, Tanner Smith, Brodie Amos, Aaron McDonald, Trey McGhee, Gage White, Billy Powell and Devante Stephens. Coaches are Tim McAnally, Tommy Smith and Jody Dortch.
