Brannon Freeman helped lead the way for Carney Lodge #549 as he scored two runs in Carney Lodge’s 13-1 rout over the Atmore Vision Center on Tuesday at Tom Byrne Park.
Carney Lodge took control of the game in the top of the first and never gave any kind of opening to Atmore Vision Center not allowing a run to be scored until the final inning.
In the top of the first, Carney jumped out to a four-run lead with Aaron McDonald (2-for-4, 2R), Freeman (2-for-2, 2R), Nate Smith (1-for-2, 2R) and Kevin Vaughn (1-for-1, R) crossing the plate.
After holding Atmore Vision scoreless in the bottom half of the first, Carney Lodge extended their lead to five runs as Freeman touched home plate for the second time.
Leading 5-0, Carney picked up three more runs in the top of the fourth. McDonald, Ben Hubert (2-for-2, 2R) and Brody Amos (0-for-0, 2R) each reached base and scored a run to help their team pull out to a massive 8-0 lead.
Carney put the finishing touches on their win the top of the fifth inning as Hubert, Smith, Randy Johnson (2-for-2, 2R), Amos and Hunter Sherouse (1-for-2, R) all touched home plate to put Carney ahead 13-0.
Atmore Vision facing a huge deficit came to the plate and scored one run in their final at-bat as Tristan Portwood (0-for-1, R) crossed the plate to pull his team within 12 runs as they fell 13-1.
Jerry’s 12
Atmore Utilities 7
Jerry’s Alignment Center picked up a big victory winning 12-7 over the Atmore Utilities Board on Tuesday night at Tom Byrne Park.
Jerry’s had to overcome an early deficit, but worked hard late in the game to pull away from Atmore Utilities.
In the top of the first, Jerry’s pulled ahead with three runs as Jerry Barlow (2-for-3, 3R), Dalton Tullis (3-for-4, R) and Reid Bell (2-for-2, 3R) all crossed the plate.
The Utilities Board bounced back to take the lead 5-3 in the bottom of the first with A.J. Mathews (1-for-3, R), Tanner Smith (2-for-4, 2R), Matthew Quimby (1-for-1, R), Perry Metzler (1-for-3, R) and DeAndrez McCarthy (2-for-3, R) all scoring runs in the inning.
Jerry’s tied the game in the top of the second with runs being scored by Brett Helton (1-for-4, R) and Barlow, but the Utilities Board took the lead back with Smith and Malcolm Black (1-for-3, R) crossing home plate.
Those runs by Smith and Black would be the last two scored by the Utilities Board as Jerry’s would take control.
In the top of the third, Jerry’s tied the game at seven with Zac Holland (2-for-4, 2R) and Tristan Montgomery (2-for-3, R) scoring.
Jerry’s took the lead 10-7 in the top of the fourth as Bell, William Andrioli (1-for-4, R) and Holland all scored runs, but they put the game away in the top of the fifth as Barlow and Bell scored their final runs of the game to give their team the 12-7 win.
